Michael Pilgrim has been active in the water for as long as he can remember. Growing up by the beach, he has always been around the water. He started surfing his first year as a Junior Lifeguard, at the age of 9. This is also when he found his love for water polo and swimming, participating through the college level. Michael’s first experience with SUPing was when he was living on the Big Island of Hawaii, A Mecca for SUP enthusiasts. When he came back to San Diego, he knew he had to get a board, and that is when he fell in love with the sport. Now, from adventure paddling, surfing, to racing, Michael has had his hands in all the opportunities that have grown from this sport including owning his own SUP company, Surf Craft. His experience as a water polo coach has made it an easy transition for him to teach people how to stand up paddle in a laid back, fun, and inviting environment!
